User Guide
General
Welcome to MASCOT's users guide. Here you can find useful information about washing and care of your clothes and the materials we use.
WASHING AND CARE
Always read the washing instructions inside the clothes Sort your laundry by colours: dark colours, bright colours and whites. Turn the clothes inside out before putting it into the washing machine. This action makes the colours last longer and prevent discolouring. For products which contain or are made of wool or silk, wash with detergent specially designed for wools or gentle wash. Wash it by hand or the washing machines gentle or wool cycle programme. For some types of outerwear, we recommend the use of detergent made for outwear. See the washing symbols on the clothing tag.
WASHING TEMPERATURE
The recommended temperature will be specified be the washing symbols inside the garments. Most detergents today are able to clean at 30˚C. Therefore, if you are in doubt, always wash your clothes at a low temperature instead of high temperatures.
WASHING BY HANDS
Avoid wringing out the clothes. You should run the centrifuge or spin cycle for a short while before drying. However, avoid spinning garments which contains wool, acetate or viscose.
DRYING
Dry the clothes as specified on the washing symbols inside the garment. Only use the tumble dryer when it is specified. Remember that clothes can shrink further by the use of tumble dryer. Pay special attention to items which require drying on a flat surface since hanging drying can make the garment stretch or lose its shape. Outwear or other types of items with taped seams, coatings or membranes, cannot tolerate tumble dryers or heating cabinets.
IRONING
When ironing you must follow the specifications on the care tag. Here it will state whether the clothes are fit for ironing. In general avoid ironing directly on graphic prints or embroidery since these will be damaged by the heat. Turn the clothes inside out and proceed to iron on a clean dishtowel or iron board.
SWIMWEAR
Swimwear should always be rinsed in running water after use to ensure the colour and elasticity.
OUTWEAR
Avoid the use of fabric softener since it damages the waterproof/windproof effect. Down filled outerwear could be tumble dried with a tennis ball to ensure the proper fluff.
LEATHER/FAKE FUR/LEATHER LOOK
Products made from leather must not be exposed to strong heat or large amounts of water or rain. If the product is designed for outdoor use then it should be treated with leather protection spray. You should always send these garments to a dry cleaner. However, certain types of leather-look materials can tolerate washing on the gentle cycle programme ¨C see the washing symbols on the care tags.
CLOTHES WITH DECORATIONS
Items with decorations like pearls, sequins or the applications should be washed gently. Wash the items by hand or in a mesh washing bag under the gentle cycle programme. All detachable decorations and applications should be removed before washing. Avoid ironing directly on graphic prints or decorations. |
